Finally, This Is IT.  I am able to watch MJ "live" in a theatre. Well, sort of anyway. When Michael Jackson was here the last time in Singapore, I missed my chance of meeting him in the concert. That shall always be my greatest regret. There are some sayings about why the show ( rehearsal ) was only shown in cinemas. Some says that it is to show people and fans that Michael Jackson is still healthy, ( during the rehearsal, which looks like it ) and some says that it is for the monetary gains of the movie companies or may be some other reasons which we may not known of. But to me, all these are not important. The most important thing about this show, the message that it conveys across, allows me to forever remember Michael Jackson as a nice person, a warm person, a genius in his field of work, also funny at times, a man of confidence and very very much passionate in his performance for the audience.

                            Thank You for the Memories Michael Jackson.

I have always been a Transformer fan and very much an Optimus Prime one.
One fine day, which I can't remember when, changed.
I was mesmerised by Bumble Bee cuteness and his loyalty.
Since then he became my number 1 Autobots.
Got this from Toys R us ,  if I remembered correctly.

and removing the Bumble Bee out of the box.

Jackie Chan in MR NICE GUY - Cathay Pacific AIR TICKETS to HONG KONG

Back in 1997, I won a first prize from this e-zine ( Entertainment news on cd-rom )

which was rather popular at that time. Instead of printed materials, the folder came with a Cd-Rom which contains the latest news, gossip, trailers and contests. One of the contest on that issue was from the movie Mr Nice Guy, starred by our famous Jackie Chan. The 1st prize in that contest was a pair of air tickets sponsored by the airliner cathay pacific from Singapore to Hong Kong. 

I remember  the cost  for One air ticket at the time was roughly about Four hundred sing dollars

After waiting in vain for weeks for the prize sponsor to contact me, I approached the publisher (which was SPH)  to assist me in contacting them.  I received a call from cathay pacific after a few days and the lady who was on the other line called me had a very bad attitude and told me that the person in charge of the promotion had already resigned and she did not know anything about this. 

How could this be possible ?!  I insisted on her to find out what happened and to contact me if there is any news and updates but in the end, no call came and despite me making calls after calls to her she was always not around.  Obviously she was avoiding me.  I cannot imagine that Cathay pacific , being one of the largest airliner in the world would somehow forfeited me . Such disappointment. 

In the end, I gave up contacting her and to my surprise ,  a lady who was from the publisher Wiz

(she was very apologetic) knew about this and offered me movie posters, movie stuffs and premiums as a compensation.  I really appreciate her kind gestures. Thanks alot :)

As for cathay pacific......baaaaahhhh 

I would prefer Singapore Airlines anytime .

Seven Swords - Postcards and Calendar

Seven Swords 七劍 the movie is adapted from a novel by a novelist Liang Yusheng 梁羽生 who was a grandmaster in the modern wuxia ( kung Fu/swordfighting ) fiction genre. When he passed away at the age of 84 he had already wrote 35 wuxia novels in 160 volumes and many of his novels were adapted into serials. This 2005 movie adapted by Tsui Hark starring Donnie Yen and Leon Lai. starring Charlie Yeung, Sun Honglei , Lu Yi and Kim So-yeon is one of the classics.

I felt sad when I heard the news that the novelist had passed away in the year 2009 , but I can proudly say that I have read ALL his wuxia novels and to me he is a great master in the art of writing.

I won these sets of postcards, notebook, a poster and a lightscribe dvd disc when I patronise the Eng Wah cinema for the movie. Although I was happy that I won, the prize collection experience was somewhat very frustrating. I remembered collecting the prizes from the Eng Wah office after I was notified of the winning. Upon reaching the venue, the receptionist gave me a cold look and ask me what do I want.  After telling her that I am here for the prize she gave me an impatient look and ask coldly : " Your IC ", ( which is identily card in our context)  Mind you, all these while she did not look at me and was still scribbling away on her notes.

With trembling hands I passed my IC to her ( not that I am afraid of course, my hands are trembling because I am refraining myself very hard from landing HER moron face on MY FIST !!!)  I do not wish to be on the first page of the newspaper the next day which reads  -
 " Reception face deformed by prize collector Dragon Fist".      

Anyway, the process was not a happy one and I was wondering how could Eng Wah allows the receptionist to have such an attitute like this. Needless to say, from that day onwards I spent my money at other cinema lines.

Superman Returns Lenticular Postcard

The HERO of all time, Superman made a blockbusting RETURN to the Big Theatre in 2006.
This time Superman is played by Brandon Routh with Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor....hmmmmm

I have watched countless Superman cartoons, comics, tv series and movies and I have to say that this current franchise - Return of superman is a BIG BIG BIG............. AND BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.
Not that Brandon Routh did a bad job but it is just that the movie just lacks something....

Anyway to me , Christopher Reeves is still the BEST Superman of  ALL TIME , don't you agreed ?   The classic of the classics  - When Superman flew round earth faster and faster until he was "speedier" than the speed of light in order to turn back time to save Lois Lane.  Unforgettable !

The Italian Job Paper Folder

The day when everyone sit up and said " My Gosh !!! Can it really do that ???  "  was the day when  " The Italian Job " was released in cinema in the year 2003 with Mark Wahlberg as Charlie Croker, the team's mastermind and thief, who seeks revenge for the murder of his mentor, John Bridger.

The redesigned Mini Cooper perform such astonishing stunts and hair raising chase scenes that leave many people in awe of  it's abilities and allow people to view it at a different perspective I would say.
Way to go little Cooper !!!      Formula 1  Here we come !!

What I got here is a File Folder which comes free with a movie magazine ( back in sept 03 ) which had already stop printing.

ELIZABETH (1998 ) Quality Framed Poster

Ladies and Gentlemen, presenting ELIZABETH Full Frame Theatre Poster from this powerful movie in 1998.  I cant really remember much about this movie thou I do remember Cate Blanchett fantastic performance as Elizabeth. Why is that so ?  Because I only watched this movie half a year ago while on a twelve hour flight to Italy Rome and all this while dozing in and out of my sleep. So the only thing I can remember was her stern face.

How did I end up with this sets of poster then ??

Psssst.....If I tell you I will have to **** you...........I sneaked into the theatre on a full moon night and "borrowed" them to display in my living room. SShhhhhh................  : )

The posters was given to me from a friend, known as  D Collector. And yes, you got it correct, he's a collector of movie stuffs too. You may click his name to go to his blog ONLY AFTER you finish mine..hahaha. Now seriousluy, do you think I should give him back an item or two ???  maybe four since it's 4 posters.
